From a novice to the most experienced gardening master, we all need a little help from time to time and planning out your garden is no different. Let’s dig into some helpful tips.
The location of your garden can be very important and can decide the entire fate of your crops. You want to be sure that you have proper amounts of light, shade and healthy soil, while also being close enough to a water supply that you won’t have to lug water around.
Each plant is unique in its needs. From nutrients to space, from lighting to bloom time, it’s important to do a little research on each plant you are considering and how you want to display them. Understand your Planting Zone and make sure to look for plants that grow well together, also known as companion gardening. Focus on making sure each plant has proper space for itself.

As mentioned above, each plant needs its own space. While we all want to try planting new, fun crops and flowers, it’s best to consider how much space you truly have. Some plants work well closely bundled together while others might need at least one to two feet of distance between them.
Each crop or flower blooms at a different time. But with proper planning, you can set yourself up to have new crops ready each week! Some crops like turnips and radishes are quick growers and can produce yields fast. Other larger crops such as corn and tomatoes can take longer to produce a full yield. Plan out each row so you always have something ready.
With these main focus points, anyone can begin to plan out an entire gardening future to grow the best crops and flowers. Best of luck and happy planting!
