The warm season is from mid-May to the first of July in Colorado and crops need up to two months of frost-free weather, especially if you're planting fruit-bearing varieties. While some of these varieties can withstand cooler conditions, they will not produce fruit when nighttime temperatures are in the 50F range.

Warm season vegetables are ready for harvest as soon as they are ripe. We encourage you to harvest them as soon as they ripen so that the plant can continue to produce.

Warm season vegetables are annuals that only grow for one growing season. They will not be able to withstand the cold temperatures of fall and winter in Colorado and will not return each year like a perennial cool season vegetable would.
